prompt: voicing out the words he cannot say (
31_days; July 21)
"I love you," Marie giggles, slightly inebriated, then turns to Wes, "He's such a cute guy, how could anyone not love him?"
Wes just watches as the usually so tough woman keeps telling Hobbie how adorable he is and how she should be married to him instead of her husband and he wished it could be him saying all this. He wishes he could just open up and tell Hobbie how he fells about him but he knows it's not going to happen.
"M., I really don't think you should be saying any of this," Hobbie interferes. "It makes me feel uncomfortable."
She nods. She has been friends with him for so long that she knows how easily Hobbie can feel uncomfortable when someone openly announces their feelings for him and she understands. In the bedroom, he never had any problems with it when they were still dating but when she drank too much and started babbling, he was never too pleased with it.
Wes on the other hand is surprised by Hobbie's words. After all it was Hobbie who once told him he would love for Wes to stop being so uptight about his feelings should he have any.
"Is there anyone you wouldn't mind saying this stuff to you?" Marie asks, her eyes indicating genuine curiosity.
Hobbie looks at her, thinking, for a moment, then says, "Wes."
Marie looks from one man to the other -- Wes has been awfully quiet -- and decided that looking to Hobbie is the better idea. Wes on the other hand is blushing heavily, amazed at the thought that Hobbie actually wants him to say this but hopes that the other man knows he won't even be able to.
"You know, the thought that Wes might have feelings of any sort is just so ridiculous."
